We started the day with breakfast. I write about this because we had French Toast. It wasn't just any French Toast though, I'm not sure why or what it was made with but it was the best French Toast I have ever had. I could honestly eat that everyday for breakfast! On the way to the worksite we were driving down this pretty straight road, but everyone drives crazy here. A motorcycle tried to pass us on the right side of the bus but they got too close to the curb and had a little accident right next to the bus. It was pretty scary because it happened right outside of my window so I just watched them about get hit by our bus. The driving here seems crazy compared to the states, but it works for them I guess. There is no road system or laws or speed limits. Roads that are meant to be only 2 lanes wide are sometimes made into 5 lanes of traffic, driving on which ever side of the road you want to. It's a scary thing for us to sit through because we do not drive like this at all, but it is completely normal to them because it's all they know. Not to mention that beause of this, motorcycle accidents are very common in the Emergency Rooms here.

Today was another work day, where we pretty much did the same things that we had done yesterday. It did seem like it was more enjoyable and that everyone was more relaxed and comfortable with everything, especially because we kind of knew what to do and expect a little more than the first day. Jeremy, our work leader taught us some Creole things to say today like "I am not married, but I have a boyfriend" and "I do/do not love you." We ran out of jelly at the compound, so for lunch we just had some bread with spicy peanut butter on it. We then returned to the compound after working and just relaxed until supper. We had chicken, rice and some spicy sauce for supper, which is apparently a popular meal here in Haiti because I feel like that's what we've eaten for the past 2 days for supper. After supper, Adaline, who does our laundry here, told us about the past Presidencies here in Haiti, which she had witnessed first hand. It was crazy to me to sit there and listen about how the past presidents would have someone killed if they spoke out against them and crazy things like that. It's also a little weird to me that their president now used to be a stripper and musician. Just a little weird in my mind. I'm very excited for tomorrow because it's only a half day of work and then we get to go to the Haitian National Museum and then a restaurant. Absolutely loving Haiti so far!!! :)
