Day 5: Wahoo Bay

This morning we went to Marci's church and the store there to buy souvenirs. The church was really pretty and was attached to a school as well. The church service was in Creole, so I don't really know what was being said the whole time, but Marci said that the message and service was about how family is always important no matter what is happening in your life. There was a sign in the church as well that said "Family is a big responsibility for today, for tomorrow and for eternity." Some kids that were still in school got up and sang a couple songs in church and they were absolutely amazing. I don't know what they were singing about but it was so good. At the store at the church I bought my parents this pretty nativity scene and a cool painted turtle that they could hang it by the hot tub at our house. I also bought my grandparents a little angel that they could set on a shelf somewhere and I bought my sister a little bracelet with an elephant on it.

After church we went back to the compound to change and get ready to head to the beach. The beach was about an hour drive but it was pretty because it was a drive along the coast. The Caribbean is absolutely stunning. The beach was awesome because it was on a private resort so we had wifi and a normal restaurant. Right when I got there I got to FaceTime my parents which was very hard because it made me so happy to talk to them but also made me miss them so much more than I already do. Unfortunately, since I talked to them I lost the American Challenge of no contact with anyone in the states all week, but it was totally worth it to see my parents for a couple minutes! After that we went on a little snorkeling adventure. This was not a fun adventure by any means. The water was rough because Jetski's kept coming really close to us which made it very difficult to stay afloat. It was also really rocky where there wasn't coral so the rocks were destroying us with the rough waters. It really freaked me out and I panicked so after getting tossed around the rocks for a couple minutes I just swam back to the boat and sat there. The rocks cut up and skinned my knees, butt and feet so I think it's safe to say I am not a snorkeler! The rest of the day we just relaxed on the water trampoline and hung out which was super nice since it was our only day off. I have never seen anything as pretty and breathtaking than how the Caribbean beach and mountains were all there in eyesight. It was a wonderful day but I can't wait to work in the clinic tomorrow! Still loving Haiti :)
