We only worked for half a day today, but I'm pretty sure that the majority of it was spent playing with the kids. The little girl I met on the first day came back again today which really made me happy. Since it was a Saturday there were a lot more kids there, which definitely makes it more fun while there. We quit working at noon to come back to the compound to eat some lunch quick, which was spicy peanut butter and jelly again, then got showered and ready to go to downtown Port Au Prince. I hadn't really talked about the showers much, so I'll just this about them. It's not clean water, so you have to keep your mouth closed, it's cold, which in Haiti is actually a blessing because it's so stinking hot there, and they are short. But anyways, after we were all ready we went to the Haitian National Museum which is very small, but very interesting to see everything. They left the damage from where statues and things fell from the earthquake in 2010 which was just amazing to see what damage it did. There were things missing from the ceiling because the bricks and decorative things had fallen. After the museum we went to this restaurant in a little nicer part of Port Au Prince called Epidor. We decided we were going to get some American food, which was obviously pizza. I was excited to have something a little American and even though it wasn't like the pizza we're used to, it was still delicious. We've been giving Brian a hard time about us being too tired to do anything because we were out too late at the VIP Disco because we all snuck out at night to go there, which in reality did not happen!
We returned to the compound later that afternoon which I was glad about it, even though I really enjoyed seeing everything and experiencing life in Port Au Prince I was glad to be back because I was beginning to get a little homesick. I wouldn't say it was exactly homesickness, but I was just really excited to tell my parents and family and friends all about what I was experiencing and my thoughts on everything here. Electricity goes out throughout the days on random times, so finally after a couple hours of being back on the compound the electricity came back on so that we could all charge our cameras and phones for the beach tomorrow. Since the beach we're going to is on a resort, it has wifi so I am able to FaceTime my parents which is convienent because tomorrow is Mother's Day at home, so I know my mom will enjoy getting to talk to me for a little bit.
